Holidays...

We went and watched the new Disney movie today, The Princess and the Frog (I think that's the name), it wasn't too bad. I actually enjoyed it, plus it wasn't too long or overdrawn out like a lot of the movies tend to be nowadays. the weather has been pretty nice too, averaging somewhere in the 50's during the day.

I've actually had several more days off of work. I took off some time at work in hopes of taking a small vacation which got shot down really quick, but since i needed the break anyways I took it. We'll see how things go on whether I should have taken it or not. I've realized that I love to do things spur of the moment and though other people don't, they just never plan anything.

Anyways, I though I should write in here since I haven't in forever. If this all sounds funny or doesn't make sense it's becuase I'm tired...g'night.

Pictures

Okay, so I am really horrible about posting pictures on the internet. I have limited time on the computer and it takes forever to post pics, at least for me it does. I blame my computer...it's slow, old, and always screwing up. We have so many pics and songs i'm sure it's slowing down the memory. Or at least that is what we thought, we got a.....eh who cares about what's actually wrong with it...it's a piece of crap the thankfully works well enought to get on the internet.

Javin skin has gotten worse. He is starting to scratch until he bleeds. We have a prescription lotion we use with other stuff but that poor kid got his father's skin. I had real dry skin as a kid and scratched until it bled.

Since Jen and her friends have gotten together, I started thinking about how cool it would be to have a massive party with as many people I know or knew. I wonder how I could do that and if I could pull it off.

My parents got back from Hawaii and had a blast. Except for my poor dad whose back got worse and he now has to have surgery.

All for now...

Fun weekend

I've been slacking on my post lately, sorry. But i'm sure you can all relate as we all get busy.

This past weekend Jen's friends from high school, Kathleen, Ingrid, and Sharon came in for their now almost annual reunion. I must admit that it was a lot of fun, even though I was the only guy. But those of you who know me will already know that me being the only guy is something I don't have a problem with :) Anyways, we spent some time up here in Wichita Falls hanging out and having a good time. Kathleen brought her son Tyler who we met for the first time. He seemed to have quite a bit of fun. Only, we had to keep him and Javin seperated at times before they turned into battle royale. All in all, six trips to and from the DFW airport, but it was well worth it. We stayed several days at my parents house so we didn't have to commute so much from WF to DFW airport. We went to Dave and Busters Saturday night and the girls got addicted to a game the gave you tickets for knocking coins off into the bottom of the machine. Altogether we got about 12,000 tickets. I've never seen so many tickets before...geez. Of course, they didn't come without a monetary cost, but it was a lot of fun. I'll have to post pics later, by stealing them from Kathleen and Ingrid's Facebook albums, cuz right now, I have to go to work...ugh.

Only for chicken lovers

Well, right now it is almost 2am and I have to be at the radio station to learn how to work the morning talk shows at 5am. I'm kind of wired even though I woke up at 8am this morning. I will definately be up for over 24 hours (what is now becoming a regular occurance, but enough whining) before I go to sleep. We're excited this week because we have some friends coming in to visit. Jen's friends from high school, Kathleen, Ingrid, and possibly Sharon. I'm really impressed at how well they keep up with each other, yet don't smother each other. Plus it is always fun when I'm the only guy in a room full of beautiful women :) (Jaden and Javin aren't men yet, but will definately have the girls' attention). So it will be fun driving back and forth to the airport and hanging out. I love catching up with friens, just so you know, if you are friends of my wife, I inherited you as my friends in marraige...sucker.

Jana apparently has become lil miss cute and reverent at church. Jen and I have been really proud of her. She sits so still and quiet it's amazing. Jaden is a little bit more raucous but not too bad. Jen and I are struggling to help him learn patience. Poor kid gets so upset when things don't go his way and if he ever loses any game, get ready for the waterworks. Javin is still the little goof. His new thing now is putting his head on the floor and sticking a leg in the air while saying "cool, cool tricks!" We really want to take the kids somewhere but Javin absolutely hates being in the car. Since we have a Prius, his screaming sounds like it's right in your ear.

Poor Jaden felt rejection by a girl for the first time the other day. This little girl named Isabella is in his class and he asked her to marry him but she said she was marrying someone else. Poor kid, and he hasn't forgotten it yet. He still brings it up. But I was quick to remind him he was supposed to marry Twila Stout. That way, he never has to date, just get married. We even have an arrangement with between Jana and Christian Otero. Now we just need to find Javin a wife and we have the whole dating problem solved!

I also had a GREAT remote last friday at Stripes, a gas station, for 106.3 the Buzz. I had a slush drinking contest to see who could drink a 32 oz slush in 4 minutes, no one did, and a sno-ball eating contest. I had a blast messing with people. I hate just sitting there doing nothing. My take on live remotes is that the DJ needs to interact with everyone, play games and mess with them so that people will want to come out. Apparently, I impressed the right people and I will hopefully have some more remotes coming my way. They pay good, so I'm excited. I'm especially thankful for Aaron, my bro-in-law, because he hooked me up with a chance to talk to the right people at the station to get the job in the first place. And thanks to him, and Heavenly Father, I actually have a job i LOVE to go to and do.

Tired...so very tired

Right now my brain is on password overload. Too many to remember! Ugh! Right now I'm sitting at the computer after getting home from work while Jen and the kids are still sleeping. I'm staying out of our bedroom so that she can sleep. If I go in there and lay down, i'll wake her up to talk. I love laying in bed and talking to Jen. It's one of my favorite things to do and helps me unwind from work. She's always a sport about it and never complains when I work her up, like I do when she wakes me up.

Right now one of my biggest hurdles in life is scheduling a healthy sleep schedule. I can't seem to manage one right now and i'm probably shaving years off of my life. Of course it doesn't help that I haven't gone to the gym regularly since the military told me I couldn't almot a year ago.

This will probably turn into my blog with a little info on my family. I'm actually finding this really therapeutic.

I've grown to love Facebook. Myspace was fun, I haven't been active on it. But Facebook rocks. That is where the friends I really miss have found me or I them. It has been so nice to meet past friends and chat with them. It has also been really disheartening when some have refused to talk to me because they felt it wrong. Whatever...I'm still thankful for the friends that talk to me. Let's me know who my real friends are.

I've also found that when I got married, i also inherited a group of friends from my wife, not just her family.

Fun, fun

I'm really trying to remember to write in this blog but I seem to always get busy. We had Jana's B-day party last saturday and it was a success. Thanks to everyone who made time to come to it. Jen personally enjoyed it as she killed 1/6 of the cupcakes that night alone.

We just recently found out that Jen's dad is doing some work down in San Antonio for a couple of days so we're going to take the kids to my parents and me and Jen will head down to San Antonio to hang out with Opa. I plan to take them through the San Antonio temple, truly the most beautiful temple I have ever been through. I also scored two free tickets to Schlitterbahn, perk of working at a radio station, so Jen and I will do that as well. We'll be shacking up with her dad in his hotel room so hopefully all we have to pay for is gas and food.

I am also getting moved around at the radio station since a ton of people are taking vacations. I still believe Sundays on 92.9 NIN from 7 to midnight will be a regular spot once everyone is done with vacations. I will have a different time this Sunday for 92.9 NIN from 3pm to 7pm which is prime time! They also expanded my air time, yea!, and I will be on Lonestar 102.3 from 6am to 10pm on Sunday as well. All my air time will be on the weekends until I'm blessed enough to get an actual show, which might be a while, but I'm cool with that. I'm stoked enough with being on the radio at all. It seriously has been a dream job of mine since I was a teenager. Oh, i will be live at Market Street, on Kell I think, on Friday from 4-6 for NIN. So listen into that or stop by and say hi! If anyone wants to listen who is out of Wichita Falls, you can log on to the websites 929nin.com or the lonestar one (whatever it is) and click on the 'listen live' buttons to hear me and have a good laugh:)

So Javin, like his older brother Jaden and Me, has really dry skin. He seems to have it the worst though. Wearing a diaper doesn’t help because he usually has some kind of rash of dry skin around his diaper line to where he hates wearing diapers. So Jen figured it would be a good chance to start him out early in potty training. She started by putting him on the toilet for roughly and hour everyday with nothing going on. Finally, today while sitting on the toilet he peed and got so excited because something happened and it made mommy happy. The best part is seeing how happy and excited he gets when he gets to wear his “Big Boy” underwear. He had some on the other day for the first time and woke me up by jumping all over the bed and dancing. He really has turned into one little goofball.

I also got my first regular radio spot on 92.9 NIN every Sunday night from 7pm-Midnight. The best part is that I don’t actually HAVE to work on Sunday. I just pre-record all my breaks a couple of days prior and save them into the computer that will run them automatically at the correct times. That was a part of radio that I never knew about. Very few DJ’s actually do their shows live. There are a many exceptions, but for the most part, the DJ’s I work with all pre-record. Even songs that are requested are saved until the song come up to play. The songs are another secret, they are all setup to play days before they air. Very few DJ’s play songs at spur of the moment. They’re all labeled with codes for their popularity and how old they are. It was really cool to see how little a DJ has to do. Though, I do like to have freedom to play certain songs, but I get to do that as a private DJ and at home for Jen and the kids.

Jana is getting geared up for her birthday party. She actually started getting ready for it the moment she left her last birthday party! J That little girl is OBSESSED with birthdays. I put up all of my DJ lights in our living room because we’re going to have a dance party. So far, she has made me turn on the lights and music everyday so that they could all dance. I would think they would get tired of it before Saturday, but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen. I just hope we’ll have enough room for everyone.

Have fun and we’ll write some more soon!

In the beginning

This is our first official attempt at blogging. I'm definately jumping on the band wagon here since everyone else is blogging. Besides, I own a Toyota Prius and it just seemed like the hippie thing to do:P Hopefully this won't be too boring but we'll do our best, if I can get Jen to help, and make it somewhat entertaining.

I (Joshua) just ended my almost 10 year military career in the USAF. I was recently medically discharged while stationed in Ramstein, AB Germany where I was a military working dog handler. Me, my wife Jen, our children Jaden, Jana (pronounced: Yaw-nuh), and Javin (like Gavin) moved back to the Texas heat of Wichita Falls, Tx so that I could attend nursing school at Midwestern State University. Plus, the cost of living here is cheap and I had some good job prospects through some friends. We bought our first house which we love, it's nice and cozy. I work full-time as an ambulance dispatcher, a job I absolutely hate now, but work part-time in my dream job (seriously it has been a dream of mine) as a radio DJ for Gap Broadcasting. Gap has four radio stations and so far I have been on both 929 NIN, my first radio show aired the morning of the 4th of July, and Lonestar 102.3, where I did my first live radio show at a supermarket. I absolutely LOVE working as a radio DJ. I should have some more air time coming up soon. I also registered as a full-time student this fall so I am going to be extremly busy.

Jen is doing well and being very supportive of my busy schedule. She does a great job taking care of J3 (Jaden, Javin, and Jana) and she is still a part-time student at MSU. We even have a class together this fall which should be fun. For once, i'll be with the hottest girl in class! :)

Jaden is getting smarter everyday and wants to "work with the ambulances, and at the radio station, and at the supermarket (he went to my live show and thought i was working there from now on) and sleep all day and work all night (my full-time job is a night shift). I'm just glad he wants to be like his old man. Jana just turned four and when she learned that America's birthday is two days after hers she said she would share her cake with America. Javin has turned into the goofiest kid we have. He is truly a one man show and LOVES to dance whenever I turn on my home DJ equipment.

I'll let you know when more stuff happens....
